The crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic will force some enterprises to reduce their workforce significantly. Under labour law, when making a large number of employees redundant, employers are obliged to apply collective redundancy procedures, which require a great deal of consultation and drag the whole process out. Entrepreneurs pressured to reduce staff in a short period of time may decide to introduce a Voluntary Leave Program, which serves as an alternative solution to the collective redundancy procedure.
